The City Council are setting their Budget, which will include many cuts that they hope will be invisible, such as reducing staffing at libraries, as well as proposing to close care homes and facilities for people with learning disabilities. We aim to show with a colourful and good-humoured protest that we are watching and we value these services.

Readers: come dressed as your favourite character from a book and read your favourite passage.
Dead Poets: read your favourite poem that cries out against oppression and philistinism
Live writers: come and read your work
Singers and Choirs: sing out your protest. We’ll be providing song sheets
Artists: send in your designs for posters and flyers – and the Big Banner Drop
Story-tellers, pavement artists, every age, every colour, use your imagination, make your contribution, everybody should be heard.

Date: Wednesday, 2nd March, 2011.
Venue: Newcastle Civic Centre.
Time: 5.00-8.00pm.
